Vitali Mikhailovich Vovk made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian First VP Es'hagh Jahangiri here on Monday evening.

Pointing to the upcoming visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Iran, Jahangiri highly regarded the cooperation between the two countries, saying Tehran-Minsk Joint Commission would provide grounds for bilateral cooperation agreements.

First VP stressed that Belarus enjoys a privileged position in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran; "Tehran supports strengthening relations and promoting cooperation with Minsk and poses no limitations to the development of bilateral ties."

Jahangiri pointed out that Iran and Belarus hold cooperation in several different sectors, saying Belarus has good capabilities in the field of industry and agriculture while Iran is highly experienced in oil, gas and petrochemical fields.

He underlined the need for removing barriers on banking cooperation between the two countries.

"One of the main obstacles to the development of trade relations between the two countries is banking barriers; we expect Iran-Belarus Joint Commission cooperation could help identify and remove the obstacles ahead, including banking issues," Jahanigiri noted.

Vitali Mikhailovich Vovk, for his part, conveyed Belarusian prime minister's greetings to Jahangiri hailing Iran's achievements in foreign policy and implementation of JCPOA.

Vovk pointed to the lack of political barriers in bilateral ties and strong will of the two countries' officials to expand relations as important incentives for improving the level of mutual transactions.

He noted that Belarus is willing to bolster cooperation with the Islamic Republic, during post-sanctions era, especially in petroleum refining and petrochemical exports.
